HOME-BASED OPERATIONS MANAGER
Sipi River Lodge is a mid-range to up-market lodge in the foothills of Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda. We are well known for our waterfall views, our excellent coffee, grown and roasted on the property, and stunning natural environment that visitors can explore through hiking and coffee tours.

As a home-based Operations Manager you will be responsible for all guest communications before and after their stay at the lodge. You will be working closely with the full-time Assistant Manager at the lodge with whom you will coordinate bookings, manage staffing, and ensure the best possible guest experience. You will manage the business finances, take payments, make purchases, and practice proper accounting standards. You will be coordinating with transport providers, suppliers, tour-operators, contractors, accounting services, government regulators, and industry peers. You will be available and on-call to aid guests and to support the lodge staff team. You will expect the unexpected and be a problem solver.
This is a predominantly work-from-home position though we anticipate that you will travel once monthly, and as needed, to the lodge to support the staff team and to direct attention and maintenance to observable areas of improvement.

We are seeking an experienced, friendly, and responsible Operations Manager to ensure the longevity and continued success of the lodge. The right candidate will have the proven ability to demonstrate the lodge’s core values.
The ideal candidate will be home-based in Uganda and has a flexible schedule, the ability to problem solve and prioritize tasks, be self-directed, have an eye for detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, willingness to travel, basic accounting knowledge, and computer literacy.
Must have prior experience or post-secondary education related to the role e.g., business, tourism-management, communications, hospitality.
Must be legally entitled to live and work in Uganda.
